How To Infuse Emotion Into Your Art

Description:

How do we put emotional power into our art? Subject isn’t enough. The use of color, contrast, and design is just as important. Using color in distinct ways is like creating an emotional language that your viewer can experience. Understanding composition and design can invite your viewer in or send them running. Getting the viewer to see what you want them to see while getting them to feel your passion is a learned skill. Engaging your viewer on a personal level is what we, as artists strive to accomplish. Whether you make your quilts with intention or are led by intuition, you can create passion in your work that will shout, whisper, and expresses your enthusiasm.

With over three decades’ practice of creating statement quilts and teaching how to put emotion into art, Hollis will show artworks from many sources while raising the subject of emotion in her Powerpoint presentation that will be followed by a Q&A session. How to express your passion in your work, communicate emotionally with your viewer, and create a compelling message are included in this lecture.
